Update on Amaya....again

My last prego picture before baby.

Amaya kissing "Baby Sky" a week before he came. I was almost 37 1/2 weeks.

I wrote this post a while ago and just now got around to finishing it (Feb 22). Since this post the infection that I wrote about below never fully healed and came back again the same day Makiyah was born. Amaya had the second surgery 4 days after the birth of Mak. Hopefully this has taken care of all these infections!!
Chad is still looking for a job but for now he's doing what I did before the baby was born.

Let me just begin to say, Praise God for His faithfulness. I believe in thankfulness and I'll start with that. This week, I was reading some scripture that really blessed me. I've for the longest time had a scripture in my head that was not very uplifting. With everything that's been going on, I haven't been thinking a lot of positive thoughts: The scripture was "hope deferred makes the heart sick." I've at times felt sick b/c I'm trying to figure out what is going on. It's felt at time as if God has left us high and dry...I know in my heart that this is not true. I know He is always near and always taking care of us...there are times, when He is a little more hidden. This is definitely one of those times.

Here is the scripture I was reading this past week (way more uplifting and encouraging to me):

It's been a trying past few months to say the least. When Chad was given the opportunity to find a "full-time" job outside the church, we were excited. For me that excitement has waned quite a bit as the job searching has turned up empty handed. We seen about 20 letters of "I'm sorry, we've hired someone else for this position. We wish you the best as you continue your job search." It's nice that they sent a letter but it is quite disheartening to get all these letters. Chad then applied for a position that he actually would have gotten but since all this stuff has been happening with the economy they have phased out the position at this time.
Anyway, then in Nov. Amaya had that infection and surgery at Riley. It healed up nicely and we thought all was well until just a few days before Christmas the infection came back again. It healed up again and we even had an appointment at Riley just this past Thursday. Everything was fine at that time, Dr. Engum gave us some plans if it should come back again. We didn't think much of it, thinking it might come back after a while not so soon (aka last night). Chad was giving Amaya a bath and she protested as he washed her neck and there it was again, "signs of infection." Thankfully Dr Engum was "on call" last night and we were able to talk directly with him. He put her on another antibiotic.
Right now the infection has come to a head and is ready to drain again, a not so fun process for Amaya. She pretty much cries as we put a salt-water warm compress on it so that it opens up.
It's been so frustrating to watch her go through all the painful processes. It's also frustrating that our baby boy is due in just 2 weeks and now sometime in those weeks she is supposed to have another surgery. I'm not sure at this time all the details of this surgery so I will post later.

Your prayers would be greatly appreciated as we prepare for this new baby and another surgery for Amaya (hopefully the last one). I've been trying to find a way that Amaya will be able to stay at our house during the time the baby comes and we are in the hospital. It's been a little stressful thinking about it and now on top of it, she'll just have had surgery unless this little on is born before Amaya has it.

We don't know the actual date of the surgery since the doctor wants the antibiotics to be fully in her system before, he schedules it. He wants the area to heal so that it is not full of infection when he does the surgery.

If you've known me for even a short amount of time, you will find that I love to cook, bake, experiment...I love working with food. My biggest passion is probably baking (stuff that goes in the oven). It's a stress reliever for me. I never follow a full recipe mostly because I don't have all the ingredients or because I don't like an ingredient that is in it.

Here are some recent things I have tried. I've been trying to take pictures of most of the items I've been making so I could blog about them. I'm going to try to dedicate one post a week to food items that I've created.

Here are some things I've recently created (or made)...

Brownie Pizza

Chocolate Mousse

  • 1 cup cold evaporated milk
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 4 squares (1 ounce each) semi-sweetened chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • Chocolate curls, optional

In a blender, combine the milk, vanilla, sugar, chocolate and salt; cover and process until smooth, about 1 minute. Transfer to a large bowl.
In a small bowl, beat cream until soft peaks form. Fold into chocolate mixture. Spoon into dessert dishes. Refrigerate until serving. Garnish with chocolate curls if desired. Yield: 6-8 servings.

Weaver family Christmas

Ok so my family does everything in a big way....not moneywise....we're just a big family. We had a lot planned over the holidays and here are some of the memories in pictures.

All the Weaver Shoes....that's a lot of feet.

Amaya playing by herself before we opened presents.

My nephew Brodie (Doug and Esther's baby)

Dewey and Denise

Wanita had a big audience as she read books to the kids.

Amaya opening her presents.

Every year we have this tradition of taking pictures of the Weaver Sisters...I was told, I should have worn something that matches. =)

The Weaver family without any of the spouses.

Some of my favorite things....

Some of my favorite things are:

1. BABY POPCORN (one of the best pregnancy snacks)

2. DECAF AMERICANO WITH VANILLA AND CREAM (iced in summer and hot in winter)

4. PEPSI FLOATS (it's a Weaver thing, we always have these and popcorn)
6. VANILLA COKES (I have about 20 togo cups from the last 3 1/2 years.)

7. FOOT RUBS - (hint hint my dear)
8. CROCHETING (I've made 3 baby blankets now and 2 scarfs)
(As you can see, I don't get much caffeine except in chocolate)

Some of my favorite things about Chad:
1. I love the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles.
2. I love His kisses - I realize the best thing we did was wait until we got married to share the first kiss - I told him one of our New Year's resolutions should be to kiss more.....SMOOOCHY SMOOOCHY.
3. I love when he hugs me for no reason.
4. I love how he plays with Amaya and she laughs and laughs.
5. I love how excited he is about our new baby.
6. I love how he always stays positive no matter what the circumstances.
7. I love how he keeps me in line when I need it.

Some of my favorite things about Amaya:
1. I love her laughter.
2. I love her desire to learn.
3. I love how she counts (one...sreee (3)...)
4. I love how every color is blue until you ask her again and she usually gets them right.
5. I love how she says so many small sentences now.
6. I love how she repeats almost everything you say.
7. I love how she says, "I love ju too" when we say, "I love you."
8. I love how much she knows.

Funny story:
Last night we went to see Marty and LoraLee and the boys. We wanted Marty to take some things to my parent's house today. LoraLee, Chad and I were talking and Amaya was playing beside us. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her and she had hurt her hand. She looks up at "Daddy" whining and hold out her hand. He didn't see her so she kissed her hand and went on playing. sweet...if mommy and daddy aren't going to kiss her boo boo, she'll kiss it herself. It's amazing how much personality she already has. We've been blessed with a wonderful, sweet daughter.

The Best of 2008!

2008 definitely has had it's ups and downs. The last part of the year has seemingly had more downs than ups but I have to admit: God is still God and He's brought us through everything we have had to face. I know there are people that have gone through more than us and we will always come out on top....this too shall pass!

January - April
I made a couple new years resolutions last year and one that I definitely stuck with was to lose all the weight from being pregnant with Amaya. I did it over several months and by April I was back to my original size.

Amaya celebrated her first birthday! It was fun to see her dig into the cake - she wasn't that interested in it at first but she did like the frosting. =)

We found out we were pregnant again! That was fun because that was in our plan.

We got to see Teresa again and Chad went to Czech Republic for a Mission trip.

We had a family vacation in Nantucket. That was a lot of fun. Amaya traveled amazingly well in the van. We went with Alice/Jason and my Mom and Dad.

We found out we were having a baby boy. We prayed for our baby to be a boy this time and God answered that prayer.

We had a rough start to November with Amaya's neck abcess but it healed pretty quickly.
We celebrated Thanksgiving with friends and family.

We had a fun Christmas and visited lots of family. We started with my family and then came back to Bloomington and then headed off to Illinois to visit Chad's grandparents.
